Solomon Airlines, Tourism Solomons, and Travel Solomons are proud to jointly announce the highly anticipated return of the Flysolomons Peace Marathon, set to take place on 30 August 2025 in Honiara. This landmark event marks the triumphant revival of the Peace Marathon, first introduced in 2009 as a grassroots initiative to promote peace, wellness, and community cohesion across the Solomon Islands.

Recreated and reimagined as a flagship sporting and tourism event, the 2025 Flysolomons Peace Marathon celebrates the Solomon Islands’ unique blend of wartime legacy and modern spirit of unity, reunion, and international engagement.

Set against the storied backdrop of Honiara’s World War II heritage, the marathon route takes runners on a powerful journey through key historical starting from Tenaru School through to Hell’s Point, Alligator Creek, Bloody Ridge, and Fighter One. Scheduled to complement the 83rd Anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal, the event further positions the Solomon Islands as the Pacific’s leading WWII heritage tourism destination.

“The Peace Marathon is more than a race, it’s a celebration of who we are and where we’ve come from,” said Mr. John Wopereis, Commercial Manager at Solomon Airlines. “We’re honoured to be the official airline naming rights sponsor and to help carry the Solomon Islands story to the world.”

As official naming rights sponsor, Solomon Airlines will lead the charge in promoting the marathon regionally and internationally together with Tourism Solomons, reflecting the national carrier’s deep commitment to tourism growth, cultural pride, and national storytelling.

The 2025 event features four race categories designed to be inclusive and accessible for all:

    • 21.1km Half Marathon – Registration Fee: $50
    • 10km Race – Registration Fee: $30
    • 5km Race – Registration Fee: $30
    • 2km Community Fun Run – Registration Fee: $20

With over 1,000 participants expected from both local and international communities, the Flysolomons Peace Marathon is envisioned as an inclusive, impactful event blending sport, heritage, and community.

Tourism Solomons CEO (Ag), Dagnal Dereveke said Tourism Solomons is delighted to be once again involved in what has become a major fixture on the Solomon Islands annual calendar of events.

“While this event holds huge appeal for serious athletes, both within the Solomon Islands and from overseas, it is really pleasing to see how local people of all backgrounds, runners and non-runners alike, have taken the Fly Solomons Peace Marathon to heart and in doing so, helped firmly entrench this community event as a fun-filled fixture on their annual social calendar.”

Participants can register via the official registration form available here , and submit in person at the Travel Solomons office, Ground Floor G01, NPF Food Court, or by email to travelsol@solomon.com.sb

The Flysolomons Peace Marathon 2025 is set to become a cornerstone of the Solomon Islands’ annual events calendar, where remembrance, resilience, and regional unity converge on the world stage.
