Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel management has advised the property will be closed from 01 September when major renovation work commences.
The phased modernisation, which is expected to carry on well into 2027, will be focused on essential infrastructure intended to bring the hotel up to contemporary international standards.
This includes Guest Room Upgrades, Lobby & Reception Modernisation, Restaurant & Bar Enhancements, Pool & Outdoor Areas and general structural and safety Improvements
The hotel’s popular Western-style restaurant, ‘Capitana’, will cease operation and closures of the ‘Hakubai’ Japanese Restaurant will be scheduled and advised as construction progresses.
In statement, the Solomon Kitana Mendana Hotel’s management expressed its gratitude to its patrons, thanking them for their support over the years and said it as looking forward to welcoming them back to an even more attractive facility once the renovations have concluded.
The hotel will be regularly updating developments on its dedicated facebook page at Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel.
The Mendana renovation is part of a broader Honiara hotel uplift which sees other several other major projects taking place.
Heritage Park Hotel is building a Conference Facility and adding more rooms.
King Solomon Hotel is adding new rooms, and upgrading reception, main dining and restaurant areas.
Coral Sea Resort & Caison is adding an additional 100 rooms.
And the Pacific Crown Hotel is rolling out continuous upgrades across its entertainment, dining, fitness, and accommodation areas. This aligns with the operator’s broader investment push including the opening of Rua Koukomu Resort on Double Island in Central Province earlier in the year.
