WWII Gun On a Clip at Viru Harbour
Some of the fiercest fighting of the war took place in and around Honiara. Names like Bloody Ridge, Red Beach, Skyline Ridge and Henderson Field will live long in the memories of both sides.
Here in 1942, World War Two’s bloodiest and longest campaign saw the loss of nearly 38,000 lives and the turning point of the war in the Pacific. There are many battle sites and relics of the war to be found not only here, but throughout the islands.

Check out our list of the top "Places to Visit in Guadalcanal" as well as our WWII section and our "Then and Now" gallery.
