Solomon Islands Tourism Industry is optimistic for
a positive future. There has now been a growing trend of an increase
of visitor arrivals mainly for Business, diving, fishing, leisure travellers and
and an amazing increase in Cruise Ship arrivals even the remote
parts of the Solomon Islands such as Tikopia and Utupua islands.
Western Province, the tourism hurb of the
country continue to recieve positive signs of increase visitor arrivals
mainly from domestic tourists, expatriates taking a weekend from work in
Honiara and international guests. Gizo after the recent
damages from earthquake and Tsumani is now open for business and is business as
usual for the tourism
hurb of the
country. Gizo is now preparing to host the
first
Solomon
Islands
inaugural Ocean Swim competition on the
29th September to 1st of October,
2007.
Major hotels in
the country have begun their major development projects as a positive sign of
industry recovery. Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel and Honiara Hotel have both
begun their full renovation and upgrading projects. Pacific Casino
Hotel are now open for guests by July. There are also two
major luxury hotels in Honiara are now approved for
construction.
Solomon Airlines is now servicing its International
routes with its new E170 jet.
It is comfortable, and is reputed to fly 12
percent faster than other aircarfts in its
class. It has increased its flights
to Brisbane Australia and new
flights servicing Santo, Vanuatu.
There are a thousand islands to visit. Like any holiday
destination in the world, look afte yourself, respect the local culture, ask the
visitor information centre or local tour operator for recommendations, and you
will find that Solomon Islands is more safer than voiced in travel advisories.
