ISLAND HOPPING



Stepping out from the usual path into the islands of the Solomons provinces is a totally unique and richly rewarding experience. Here amongst 1,000 islands and a friendly and culturally sensitive people, you will find the true meaning of the term ‘ecotourism’. Without doubt, this is one of the few remaining, truly un-spoilt tourist destinations of the world. There are Village Stay Lodges around each province of the Solomons.

Upon Arrival and after completing checking in formalities, a hotel Transfer will be waiting for you. The transfer will take you to your hotel.


Half day tour of Honiara before Lunch. The tour is a WWII battle fields tour taking in the Honiara Scenic tour as well. After lunch transfer to the Domestic Airport to catch domestic flight to Seghe. Upon Arrival to Seghe meet by the representative with a transfer boat for the transfer to Uepi Resort.


A day at the Uepi Resort. A variety of activities are available at Uepi resort. Uepi is a dive resort and facility for diving and dive professional are available. Snorkeling, kayaking or just swimming, fishing, or do a village tour to Chubikopi, chea or Telina and go bush walking on the Islands of Vangunu. There is volley game with the staff in the afternoon.


Another day at Uepi. If you have been diving Yesterday. This day would be a day to do the land activities.


Transfer in good time to meet and board IE flight in Seghe to for Munda. The Agnes Lodge is just a walking distance from the Airport terminal so pick up your luggage and ask for the direction with the Solomon Airline staff at the terminal.


Munda is a sub provincial Head Quarter for the Western Province. There are tours to the waterfall, tour to the World War II sites, and visiting the famous made popular skull Shrine at Skull Island.


There would a dive in the morning for the divers and land tours in the Afternoon. If you choose just to do land activities the whole day then it would be a tour to the Water fall and the World II site for the whole day.


In the morning pack and get ready to your flight to Gizo. The flight Departs at around 10 am, so make your way to the Airport in good time for checking in and boarding the flight. Gizo Islands is the Provincial head Quarter of the Western Province, the airport is on the Island of Nusa Tupe. Wait for your luggage at the Airport terminal and walk to the Jetty for the Boat transfer to Gizo township. The boat Gizo hotel Express is your boat to board, It will depart after Solomon Airline staff finish what they are doing at the terminal but it is always just a short wait. The boat transfer will be a 15 – 20 minutes boat ride before you hope off on the Gizo Hotel Jetty in Gizo. Claim your luggage and Gizo hotel is just 50 meters from the boat. Check into Gizo hotel which should be your home for the next two nights.


A Day in Gizo. Gizo is colorful little township depending on how you will look at it. The Gizo Market is a fascinating place to wonder into and experience what it is like among the locals selling and buying fresh garden produce, fresh fish just caught of the sea just within the last hour and home made food stuff. The ANZ banks Gizo Branch and Telekom office are across the road from the market side of the street, Further on down the street are lines General shops and you can find internet cafes and the Banks South Pacific’s Gizo branch. An easy walk through this township is a recommended to do things in Gizo.
Gizo is also the most popular tourist destination in the Solomon Islands there are two dive shops, Solomon Water sports and Adventure sport who also offer tours on land and Boat trips.


Take a boat trip to Simbo Islands. Simbo is a Volcanic island 31 km SE of Gizo and one of the things the Islands is famous for, is the Megapod eggs. The Megapod birds are plentiful on the Island of Simbo, as the warm volcanic sand offers the best incubation for their eggs. People harvest the eggs for food and for sale in Gizo. A tour to Simbo will take you a volcano crator and be shown what the locals do with the ever available heat energy that surfaces from the centre of the earth. Also when in Simbo ask about the Skull houses. Simbo had been home of head hunters in the past and until today they still have the evidence of those long lost practice in their skull houses.


This day is good for having a picnic and taking short boat rides to have a look at different small islands, snorkelling or swimming. Kennedy Island, Saeragi Beach, the fish centre on Nusa tupe Island make interesting places to visit. Picnics can be organised on your owr private Island or on one of the Islands Resorts such as Fat Boys, Sanbis Resort, Naru Island or Orave Cottage.


A travelling day. Take a flight from Gizo to Honiara which will take approximately about 1 hour 45 minutes. Then another flight to Auki from Honiara will take about 30 minutes. In Auki the place to stay is the Rarasu Motel. This on the top class accommodations in Auki.

Visit Auki townships with Thomas’ Auki Walk tours. Auki Township is the second biggest town in the Solomon Islands, if you can believe it, Honiara is the Big one. There will be a lot of interesting little shops in the township including a bank for the traditional Shell money the ‘Tafuliae’

Take a Bush walk to the Sacret Hill of Mount Alsa’a. The walk will take you a secret cave where remains of traditional dueling are evident and to a water fall to have a swim before you return to Auki again.

Take a road tour to Atori head Road. The road cuts across the Island through ragged mountain ranges over looking the tropical rains forest of the centre f Malaita.
 

In the Morning check out of Rarasu motel for a boat trip through the langalanga lagoon to Serah’s Lagoon hide away. Have Lunch at Serah’s hideaway before taking another boat trip around this majestic lagoon. This lagoon is home to the Boat builders and Artificial Builders. do not be mistaken. This afternoon’s tour is a must even if you do not think it would be interesting. Many people regret not going on this tour. You will be cruising pass villages and man-made artificial islands with either local people living on them or Boat under construction. 

This day is a day for the traditional stuff.  Take the boat trip to Busu Cultural Village after breakfast. Expect a demonstration of warriors welcome upon arrival at Busu Cultural Village. The whole day will be full of demonstrations, Shell money manufacturing and the bridal ceremony will be the high light and fun activities as well as traditional dances and performances with lunch being provided at the Cultural centre.
 

Take a village tour and compare the contrast between the culture and living on the Artificial Islands, the salt water people as they are called, and the life on the main land referred to as the Bush people 
 

A day to return to Honiara. Serah’s Hideaway Transfers will advice you of the departure time from the hide away by boat to Auki. Then by Van to the Auki Airport to catch the flight back to Honiara. Enjoy the facilities and services provided by one of the many hotels there and take your time to soak in all the activities of the weeks past.
 

Your last day in the Solomon Islands. Pack your bags and make sure you don't forget to pick up some souvenirs to remind you of your trip to the Solomon Islands. We'd love for you to come again! Lukim iu!
